My name is varsha patel and i have come to ohio from India.
INDIA is a land of diverse cultures. The variation in physical and climatic condition have greatly influenced the traditions and culture of the different regions in India. The greatness of India has been in has been in accepting the best from all invaders and blending them to the old cultures and style. HINDUISM is the most common religion in india. Others are BUDDHISM, JAINISM, ISLAM. INDIANS worship different types of gods like the hindus worship the hindu gods like RAM, KRISHNA,GANESH, DURGA, LAXMI,SARASWATI etc. The MUSLIMS worship ALLAH.
The JAINS worship LORD MAHAVIRA and the BUDDHIST worship LORD BUDDHA.
There is a vast profusion of music and dance which varies according to different regions. FOLK MUSIC AND DANCE is the most popular form in India. Every state has its own religion, culture, music and dance. I am a hindu and a Gujurati by birth. Gujurat is my state in india. The main festival of ours is "DIWALI"- THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHT. We also have another festival called "NAVRATRI"- THE FESTIVAL OF DANCE. In this festival we dance on are folk dances named Dandia and Garba.
